These terms govern your use of Heirloom. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we use it.
Heirloom is a private journal for writing, sharing stories with family, and delivering letters to loved ones on dates you choose. A free Solo plan is available; the Family plan ($8.99/month, with a 14-day free trial) adds family sharing, a family tree, and legacy delivery to multiple recipients, billed through Stripe.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for keeping your password secure. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You're responsible for the accuracy of any information you provide about family members you invite or name as recipients.
The Family plan renews automatically each month until canceled. You can cancel anytime from Settings or the billing portal; your plan remains active through the end of the period you've already paid for. We don't provide refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law.
You own what you write. By using Heirloom, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and deliver your content solely as needed to provide the service — for example, showing an entry to the family members you've chosen to share it with, or emailing a legacy letter to the recipient and date you've set. We don't use your journal content for advertising, and we don't sell it.
You control who receives a legacy letter and when. We make reasonable efforts to deliver letters on the date you specify and to the email address you provide, but — like any email-based delivery — we can't guarantee that every message reaches its recipient (an address may be mistyped, an inbox may reject it, or a recipient's email address may simply change over the months or years before delivery). Please keep recipient information up to date.
Don't use Heirloom for anything illegal, to harass or impersonate others, or to upload content you don't have the right to share. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your entries, comments, family connections, and legacy letters. Family branches you created that other family members also contributed to are preserved, with ownership passed to another contributor, so their writing isn't lost.
Heirloom is provided "as is." We work to keep the service reliable and your data safe, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability or that data will never be lost, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana.
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
